If a young Andrés Segovia had found himself wandering through the Shenandoah Valley, and bumped into a similarly young Doc Watson, and they took the time to get to know each other, and found a musical "sweet spot" somewhere in between their own personal styles, then the result might have been something like Julian (Andrés) Lage and Chris (Doc) Eldrige. Each is virtuosic in his own right, but together they weave double-stranded themes that are sometimes melodic, sometimes harmonic and occasionally dissonant, but the result is always near perfection. They were a pleasure to experience. |
